Restaurants in Melbourne
felt restaurant history
Named after the green ‘felt’ lining on top of the Hotel Lindrum billiard table, the restaurant in Melbourne blends modern day with the history of Walter Lindrum’s world championship era.
In the early 1900’s the building was commissioned by well-known tea merchants, Griffiths Brothers, whilst throughout the 1960’s it operated as various headquarters for the Herald and Weekly Times.
In the 1970’s the building took on a very different tenant, one that would give the old building a completely new image. The former Griffiths Bros building became a major focus of activity as a Melbourne billiard and snooker-playing establishment. Leased by Dolly Lindrum, Lindrum’s Billiard Centre was partly named after her famous uncle, Walter Lindrum (1896-1960) but more so for a family that had produced four generations of billiard champions and snooker players.
The site was redeveloped and opened as Hotel Lindrum Melbourne on 12 July 1999.
felt restaurant is the perfect setting for your next function or dining occasion in Melbourne.
